Episode 37: The White Stripes ”White Blood Cells”
They might not be a band anymore, but Savannah picked them out for today. We're looking at The White Stripes and their 2001 album "White Blood Cells." The White Stripes were a garage/blues-rock duo from Detroit, Michigan. The duo consists of frontman Jack Gillis (aka Jack White), and pretend sibling/real-life ex-wife Meg White on drums. They formed in 1997 but would release their debut self-titled album in 1999 after signing with Sympathy for the Record Industry. Their third studio album "White Blood Cells" was released in July 2001 under the same label, recorded at Easley-McCain Recording in Memphis, Tennessee, and produced by Jack White himself. The album picked up many accolades such as a majority of positive reviews, 5 stars from AllMusic, platinum certification across the US and UK, and more. The album spawned four singles: Hotel Yorba, Fell In Love With a Girl, Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground, We're Going to Be Friends. For more info, go to www.whitestripes.com
